1/7.5 twist

My gunsmith has sent me a 1 in 7.5 twist Kreiger instead of the 1 in 8 that I ordered. For long range target work in F class with 107 Sierra projectiles, will this be as good as a 1 in 8.He will take the barrel back if I choose to return it. Should I keep it

I'm interested in your replies to this thread. When I started building my first this fall all that I could get was a 1-7.5 Krieger without a long wait so that's what I wound up with. I've read a lot and haven't seen a lot of downside so far but we'll see what people say. I've just finished the build and need to get healthy to get to the range and try it out. I've bought some 107 Sierras and 108 Bergers to try first. I'm thinking I can possibly try the 115 DTAC or the 115 Berger. I asked Walt Berger and he said the 115 Berger was a no go with my BRX but others have posted about good results even with a 1-8 twist. I'm only a beginner so let's hear from those who know to tell you what to do and if I've made a mistake. Of course my barrel won't last forever and if I'm unhappy we'll try 1-8 next time.

better check the bore diameter if you are going to use it for fclass. myself and my son blew up berger 105s & hornady amax shooting fclass. our barrels were both 6mm 8twist kriegers with a .236 bore. muzzle velocity was only 2950fps

An 8tw will work fine with ANY 6mm bullet made, including the Sierra and Berger 115s.
Are you sure, because I'd love to try them, but I get contradictory reports. My barrel shoots the 117 DATC very well and is 1-8" twist! Should I get some 115 VLDs?

Duke, they'll work.

I'm sure Berger recommends an optimum twist under sea level std conditions, worst case). With that 7.5tw or even 7tw would be 'best'.
But 8tw will still work. So I wouldn't worry to try them.
