1.6 long x 284 cases

Is there a forming die out there that I can shorten up the 284 Win case to a 1.6? I want to build a .35 x 284 short case for Indiana.

Lee Six has a nice forming die kit. Combined with Sinclair expander mandrels, you can pretty much make anything you want.

I've shortened a 284 like this.
A problem you would have to accept right up front is thickening of brass as you move the shoulder downward from it's original position. Brass is tapered in thickness. Then on top of that you have thickening due to sizing down, for new shoulder & neck).
With this, it's not really possible to predict resultant case capacity. You'd have to form it & measure it & tweak it & measure it, till you meet your goals.
Then you can fill out a reamer print.
But a fat 6br I formed with 284 cases ended up with less H2O capacity than a standard 6br norma, because of thickness..
Also keep in mind that necks thicker than ~.013 will be more inconsistant in tension. So plan to turn formed cases like this or you'll be disappointed with performance down the road.

If you care to see this before investment in special dies, just pick up, cut, & measure any WSSM case. These were no doubt formed from WSM cases. They are .019"-.026" thick in the necks, and match WSM thickness near the bases.
You could expect the same if you made a WSSM from a 284 case.

If you just want a 35BR, then yes, simply neck up 6BR Lapua brass.
That's what I would do -before requesting any reamer.
