I have a hart 1:10 20" HV barrel chambered in .243 win it is unfired I think I want to re chamber it in 6brx to use as a fireforming barrel. I might as well get some 600 yard practicing in while I am @ it. What is the heaviest and what style or type can I expect to stabilize in this short 1:10? I expect somewhere around a 95 grain BT but a vld may not. Any advice will be appreciated.

bozo699,

I had a 10 tw 6BRX that would shoot the 95 VLD great, out to 1000yds, but some want shoot them. The 90 gr Berger is a grest long range for long range. Berger's new 87Vld shold work too.

Mark,
Thank you, having less than 20" may be a issue. My son has a 26" factory 6br 1:12 that will shoot the 95 bt noslers but not nearly as well as the 85 gr bthp Sierras. I will try the 95 vlds and work my way down. I would like to have a fairly accurate load for 600 yard fireforming with the 6brx if possible.

bozo699,

Another great bullet for the 10tw, is the 95 gr Bib's flatbase.

Wayne, Berger says 10 is OK for the 90 grain HPBT. They want 9 for the 95 VLD. I did a quick check, and 10 probably has very slim odds of working. Stability of about 1.02 at 3000 fps. My experience is that they go south (as well as north, east, and west), when they hit that stability level.
