Tom The Tuner. He is the man that's for sure. Better save that lot of powder. But then again I don't think it matters what powder, he will make it shoot. Great job buddy.

put me down for one of those experimental fill jobs,

some PLATFORMS i.e. actions and stocks mated together will just not shoot

some PLATFORMS will shoot well with almost any barrels screwed onto them, if this combination works well with a second barrel (when needed) it then is a keeper,

unless you can tune well most would never get to the point of recognizing a good platform and one that they should sell and build another

my point is with the new fill AND HTIS PARTICUALR ACTION it would appear to be working

(with toms tune and barrel and bullets and so on) good stuff tom and Alex

Its the stock finish that makes it shoot so good. When you make a rifle ugly, it has a chip on its shoulder and wants to prove itself to the crowd. The old sleeper "ratrod" ;)

Still one of my favorite stock finishes I've seen come out of your shop :)

Not to take away from it, but I saw a lot smaller groups from a 6.5x47. at Harry jones the Friday before the match. If I remember right it around .625 for five shots.... jim

Can I ask what time of the day Tom's group was shot and what the conditions were like?

That is what a Mcmillan without a gel coat looks like. Experimental so no point wasting time making it pretty. It is so ugly it grew on me too.

tim gardner, the owner of douglas barrels used to shoot BR with us with a stock finished exactly like that- he called it the carp. maybe @Stan Taylor will post a quick picture of it. im in the middle of a few year project on a stock thatll be just like that except itll have tons more bondo on it just to be shootable- it came out of the wore out mold with a sledge hammer I think.
