1,000 yard groups

I'm just curious what you guys think decent size groups are at a thousand yards would be from a varmint rifle. I'm usually shooting from a bench or prone with a bipod up front and a rear bag or a monopod in the back. Just kind of wonder what you guys consider a respectable group size.

Just curious, what’s the caliber? Caliber, barrel length and bullet weight will decide.

I have quite a few different combinations, but the one I've been shooting the most lately is a 6.5 Creedmoor, pushing a 147 grain ELDm at 2700.

Tough question to answer since conditions, your load development process, your gun handling skills, etc all need to be factored in. With that said, if I was shooting a 6.5 Creedmoor in a tuned varmint rifle off a bipod at 1K I would hope to be able to put down 8"- 10" 5 shot groups. Assuming this is with a factory action/barrel.

I know there's a ton of different variables and it's a general question but assuming you have an accurate rifle and tuned handloads. It's more of a human error, shooting position question more than anything else. I know my rifle is accurate, it will shoot bug holes.

Go find out!
There is a world of difference between groups at 100-300 yds., 600 yds. and 1000. Loads that are great at short range can easily fall apart past 300. Find a range and work your way out.

LOL. I know what my gun shoots. That's not the question I asked. I shoot at a grand twice a week. But I usually shoot by myself and I'm looking for comparisons.

I would love to have the opportunity to shoot 1k twice a week! Or any week...
