917 setup

i'm new too and also shoot a 917 marlin..

your upgrades are nice but the only one you need is the one that aint listed. and thats a rifle basix trigger.. the trigger on the marlins suck.. i have filed mine lil, the rifle basix that is, and it breaks at 12oz.....

my set up is a set of kwik way rings i think, they were like 20 bucks, but i have a luepold 4-12x scope, harris style bi-pod, rifle basix trigger, and i shoot hornady 17 vmax...

i consistently shoot well under 1/2 inch groups at 100 yars, have over 200 kills with the gun out to 325 yards... the mueller scopes are supposed to be good but get a trigger

just sand bags..... if i had a good vice i think i could get it down even closer.. shot a 5 shot group the other day just over.33.. so it's really close........

before the trigger, the best i could do was maybe .75 - 85

you may just need a spring trigger trick, with a little pressure pad up front, and sand out the channel a bit. that is all mine need ed to be super tight, I did notice, and this was weird, that my groups actually tightened up a tad more, with the bipod on, but the legs folded up, not resting on the bags. the weight, hanging off the front of the stock, must have helped the harmonics.
