  9. Fixed 42x nightforce vs 12-42 BR

Looking to step up my scope power for informal benchrest shooting at my local range. I have a 8.5x25 leupold now. And was wondering if anyone had first hand comparison of the two nightforce scopes I have narrowed my choice down to. 1. Nightforce fixed 42x44 2. Nightforce 12-42x56 Benchrest * I...
  10. Importance of different bullet lots??

Is it ok to mix bullet lots if you are separating by weight and bbto??? Or is there another reason not to mix lots. Just curious.
  11. Benchrest Rest choice

Hey Guys Want to choose a benchrest for my 6br rifle. I am currently using a Seb Joy-pod. But I want to get a rest for a better result. Seb Neo and Mini is a good choice I know, but I cannot wait for that long time to get a new one, and I cannot find a used currently selling. I prefer to...
  12. Neck turn before or after fire forming?

Do I neck turn “skimming/cleanup” before or after first fire forming. The reason I ask is because I noticed the brass grows on average 4 thou in many directions. Shoulder bumps up and out, necks sucks in a little i am guessing. If you turn the neck and “skin the shoulder” I am assuming that...
  13. Annealing till glow or 750??

So I have an annealeez. I also have 750 tempilaq. With the cheap hornady brass I have, if I turn the lights out the brass gets the deep glow right at 750 degrees. Perfect. Then when I do the lapua brass I turned to the same neck thickness to the hornady and run it through the annealer I...

  15. Peterson fat neck brass?

I am shooting 6.5, (no turn neck). Peterson makes a fat-neck brass. Is that a good option for someone running a standard chamber to get the effect of a custom turn neck chamber? I am assuming so, but figured I’d ask the pros Also, if that’s the case, I will go with the Peterson fat neck...
  16. Custom reloading dies from chamber cast????

  17. Which neck wall thickness gauge to use???

Looking for my first neck thickness gauge. I figured instead of buying the wrong one and have to replace it, rather buy the correct one off the bat. Which is why I’m asking. I was considering the Sinclair digital handheld gauge which is highly rated or the Redding Sinclair model...
  18. Where benchrest guys measure bullet runout?

Just picked up a 21 century concentricity gauge tool. But I don’t actually know where to place the pointer on the bullet. Near the top, ogive, or where it enters the neck case?? What do the benchresters do?? Where do you guys place the pointer of the gauge?
  19. 30br bullet pointing???

Dumb question. From what I have read, you really just start to see the results of bullet pointing after 300yards. And 30br for benchrest. which is the most popular sub 300 yard gun, so do 30br rounds ever get pointed? Seems pointless. Really did not mean to end that with a pun.
  20. Is the premier accuracy fli rite the best one?

What is “the best” as far as concentricity gauges on the market. I know 21 century is up there, but the fli rite seems to be the only one that can actually fix the runout.
