  1. The Phone Call

Ha, right? That dude would have much rather have been turned into spray paint via rocket than the way he went out.
  2. Sorting brass and bullets.

Sorting brass by weight is a waste of time since most of the variation is in the head. To prove this all you have to do is find a few pieces of brass (not Lapua) that are the same weight and then uniform the primer pockets. Weigh again and they mostly likely will no longer be the same. If you...
  3. Long Range Precision barrel

    +1 for Shaw.
  4. Best way to remove static while reloading

So how many guys are going barefoot after this thread? :D
  5. Best way to remove static while reloading

Nope. While disclosed, the magic trick is not for sale ;)
  6. Best way to remove static while reloading

I suggest finding the source. If you are just talking about new plastic, wash it with warm water and dish soap. Sometimes it is the dumbest things that cause static. I have a pair of moccasins that have a lining that for whatever reason create a charge. Sometimes I can turn on a touch lamp just...
  7. Hard carbon, solvents, and benefit of a bore scope

It's also used as a catalyst, which is probably how they are using it and thus say it is non abrasive. But, it is an abrasive.
  8. Hard carbon, solvents, and benefit of a bore scope

@fyrewall Flitz contains aluminum oxide, which is an abrasive.
  9. New Teslong Model Coming

I received an email from them early this morning. The new model hit Amazon today. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081T1DN1P/?tag=accuratescom-20
  10. KM arbor press/Sinclair L.E Wilson micrometer seater

K&M arbor with force feedback, and Wilson micrometer (not Wilson / Sinclair micrometer - there is a difference) is what I have on my bench. I did start buying the Wilson FL/B's. I have a few and so far have not complaints. The 6.5 Creedmoor is wider at the top of the body than Reddings, but for...
  11. Need Rifle scope recommendation: Short and long range use

I always seem to end up with a scope on every rifle, but for the most part I do the opposite. I buy better scopes and mounts, then swap them across rifles. The lower quality scopes are mainly used for friends/family that are shooting my stuff, or if I am doing some testing while the main rifle...
  12. OK, all you old farts.........

Guessing you can still see lights... https://www.shortactionprecision.com/products/send-it-electronic-level-system
  13. Ear muffs that are slim for stock clearance

Most electronic hearing protection amplifies normal sound, with volume control. I have grabbed the earpro on more than one occasion when the wife said "what's that noise?" As for the MSA, I don't know that they provide much more of a cheek weld than the Impacts (I own both), but the MSA's keep...
  14. Hard carbon, solvents, and benefit of a bore scope

The whole removing metal thing is really about the edges of the rifling. We are running a compound, patch, etc., over what is supposed to be a precision edge. Doing that is going to have some negative impact on the edge, just like if you did it to a knife. The other concern is using too much...
  15. Hard carbon, solvents, and benefit of a bore scope

Yeah, when I started using it, whenever that was, I did the parker hale thing with a patch. It worked, but no better than the VFG. However, it is much harder to feel where you are in the bore with a patch vs. the pellet, and the pellet never rolls over creating a tough pull or push. On this...
  16. Hard carbon, solvents, and benefit of a bore scope

They are caliber specific. Smooth gliding, good contact fit but not "tight." They expand slightly once worked in the bore. @Coonman300 's post has a photo of them. They have white (normal) and green which has a small bit of bronze brush in them with a tougher skin.
  17. Savage feeding issues

Bob Sled is a solid product. @chevi_guy take a look at how your rounds are sitting in the mag. You may need to bend the feed lips to adjust the starting angle. If you bend them, go slow with very small adjustments.
  18. Load development with SEATING DEPTH first

As I read back through this thread, I wonder if there may be more factual statements based on specific circumstances rather than a single definitive method. Sorting the way I do, I can adjust the L.E. Wilson seater by the amount of variation in the sort and get the same (+/- 0.0005) CBTO. Kind...
  19. Hard carbon, solvents, and benefit of a bore scope

I run 2 patches with Kroil down the barrel, then Kroil on a VFG pellet, then JB on pellets. I reapply both as needed. Note that on my 'good' barrels I try to avoid any paste, but if I need it then I hit is early and just enough to remove the fowling that is causing the problem. The barrel in...
  20. Hard carbon, solvents, and benefit of a bore scope

My personal thoughts on the ring, stop working it when the patch stops binding up. JB / IOSSO polish too much and then you get copper fowling like no tomorrow. These photos are from a barrel that now only gets used to expand brass. I took the carbon down as far as I did to get these photos to...
