  1. Scope Base and Ring Identification

Definitely Redfield. They may not make like that anymore but they did in the 70s and 80s.
  2. 6BR/22BR die question

I THINK so. I have done it before on TCU cases. I don't see why not but I'll be watching for a more authoritive answer. Gary
  3. SOLD Weaver KT6. SPF

I have exactly the same scope and a few real 6Xs as well. In my opinion you have it priced too cheap! Mine is mounted on a 141 Anshutz and I really don't think I could do better.
  4. Burn Rates and Powder Substitution

I'd use IMR 4064 but then I have it. Its only downfall is it doesn't. meter well
  5. What era would this powder be from?

I sure hate to see you throw it away. I'm betting it is fine
  6. As a kid, what gun did you dream of owning?

Ithica model 49 as well and U can see it from here! I got it when I was 9 for my birthday. I'm 69 now. I can stll remember going into town and looking at it in western auto. I can't remember the price but it was mid 20's
  7. Vintage night vision equipment

In boot camp for marines we (platoon) looked through one of those in 1974. My takeaway was that it worked but everything was very green. It was mounted on an M16. I have no idea what to price it at. Gary
  8. Wood Rod for Bullet in Rifling with Hornady OAL Tool?

Make sure the dowel is smaller than the bore by a good amount. A friend got one (dowel) stuck and as far as I know never did get it out.
  9. 22-250, please school me

4064 is the best powder in my opinion but it doesn't meter well. ( light bullets)
  10. Weatherby 307 - anyone tried one yet?

I didn't even see it, I just read it like I'm sure he intended it.
  11. Vintage optic opinions for an old L61R

Adam, I really don't have a serious issue with them but the ones I owned seemed a little chintzy. I have had a alot of luck w/Leupold but they like me are antiques! If he had one in good shape go for it but myself I'd feel better with a Leupold. Again that is just ME! I am a giant fan of the...
  12. 1971 Ruger 220 Swift still shoots

I had one in 22-250 I got off of a neighbor. It shot great sure wish, I had kept it! Back then it was all about the money. I always worked but I made considerable money on guns too. They were always available and the Law was different.
  13. Vintage optic opinions for an old L61R

I've had a couple of the V9s and I wouldn't put one of those on it. I like the old weaver (el paso) straight powers and I have probably a half dozen of them on different powers. If you have to have a variable I'd get an old redfield.
  14. 8MM Mauser with 318 bore

    Talk to Gmac.
  15. The one powder....

IMR 4064 it is so close to IMR 4895 it isn't funny but for some reason I've had better luck with 4064. The only advantage of 4895 was it's smaller kernels that metered better through a meter. The only downfall to 4064 was the metering of it in a measure but I always weighed my charges so it was...
  16. Bed or Lap Scope Rings?

A lot of my stuff is old (before Burris inserts were available) and it is all lapped. In my defense my last two were Burris w/inserts. I was cocked but made myself let it go. I will suffice it to say I HATE rich people that try to impose on people their thinking. Witch I (don't think) the OP...
  17. 357 Max question

This guy has been there and done that. Pay attention to him. The unique advice is especially good.
  18. Loads for .38 Spl in a v-e-r-y long barrel

I'd use 2400, probably over book but haven't checked. GOOD LUCK! I'd be interested in your results. The loads listed while fine in a revolver lack a little as far as accuracy (velocity). If those didn't work I'd probably go to H-110 Or 296 neither of which I've had good results. Gary
