Thoughts on Redding T7 with Creedmoor Sports upgraded turrets?

I would love an Area 419 turret press, but wonder, if the T7 with upgrade will perform as well. 2 turrets would probably be enough so I could leave in my sizing dies set and ready to go. I use an L.E. Wilson inline seater for seating almost everything. How many use the T7?

i have the T-7 with the creedmoor head, like it fine. I use the 419 die nuts on the seaters, and a redding ring with an o-ring under for the sizing dies. cant say it was any better than the factory head, but it looks nice.
I have a zero press beside it for another caliber i dont shoot much yet. I still have some bugs to work out on that one.

I have been using the Redding T-7 for about 15 years or more and have been very happy with it as it came from Redding. I recently installed the upgrade kit from Champion's choice, and yes, it smoothed things out a bit, but really didn't change things too much. I would buy another T-7, but wouldn't bother with the upgrade kit if I had to do it again.

I appreciate this thread. I’m a long range benchrest shooter and this question has always loomed in the back of my head. I’m tired setting up my sizing dies on my single stage. (I know, first world problems lol) the T7 fits my needs fine, but don’t want give up anything if I go that route instead of a 419 press.

I've had them all.

Redding t7 is as consistent as anything with factory turret. Creedmoor is nice but didn't change anything.

I would look at a co ax or nexus. Once you slip a die in and switch it out in 3 seconds you'll be amazed.

And if inline makes a roller handle for your press.. GET IT! They make everything better.

Like other said, it is as good as any other turret press. There is noticeable flex on turret presses. This can be taken into account but needs to be known ahead of time and accounted for. If neck tension is variable, OAL may also vary depending on the amount of tension variance. Some dies can correct this if you can cam over the press with the shell holder while seating. This is not possible on many dies as they also crimp on seat.

I have thought about picking up a T7 for years. I use a Rock Chucker with the Hornady lock and load bushings. Looking to get away from that.

My question is I also have a Dillon 550. While it only has 4 stations does its shellplate design give up anything in the accuracy department? Thought I might try that vs the coin I need to drop on a T7.

My T7 came from Creedmoor with their head on it. A great press, I really like it. Very much better and handier than the old Rockchucker I'd been using since '80. Does the Creedmoor head make a T7noticeably better, I don't know. But this thing is very nice, smooth, works beautifully. The 419 press is a beautiful thing and looks just ultimate and with 8 stations instead of 7, but I don't feel like spending that much.

TommyD,

The Dillon conversions sets don't give up anything to a single stage press. I lock the 550 toolheads with the UniqueTek toolhead inserts and use separate toolheads for decapping/sizing and seating/crimping. You get eight positions instead of seven, and toolheads can be had second hand for below $25 each, if you're patient.

Every time I walk by the Zero at Scheels, I have to stop and massage it. It's a work of art, but I have a hard time with $1400, for me. I don't have anything against them charging that much, and would not feel ripped off to be clear. Thanks for the responses.

Might want to take a look at the new Frankford Arsenal turret press.
Spent primers drop through ram into sealed container.
Turret heads ride on bearings and can be torqued down.
Built in lighting.
While it’s not a Zero press it has some nice features for substantially less money.
My next press is going to be a SAC Nexus but if I was in the market for a turret I think I would check out the FA.

I didn't know this press existed. It looks pretty interesting. I do think it's primer disposal system and roller bearings in the turret are definite improvements over my T7.

Those bearings look like a pain in the a$s to me. The extra heads are going to attract dirt from the grease making you have to clean them every turret change.

Don't laugh, but I have a Lee APP, set up for depriming only, and I love it.

Currently running a 550 for brass prep only. #1 FL size & deprime, then #2 mandrel, #3 2nd mandrel then #4 brush. Very consistent shoulder bump and concentricity. Not to mention fast.

I never could get good consistency on my shoulders with a 550, teach me your ways. I see people doing it, but me, not so much. Is it just a lube issue? I strictly use Redding comp shell holders and a firm cam over and dead nuts center punch them exactly the same.
