i use a rcbs colllet puller if i can get a spot on bullet to grip otherwise i have to use the kinetic. like some handgun bullets. i hit the kinetic on thickest steel ive got around. that works best for me.I bought a ‘Grip n Pull’ and will never use a kinetic puller again. (I guess if I have to pull 33 cal + …)
I run about 2 thousandths tension, and graphite in the necks. Plus they are 200 grain so have plenty of their own kinetic energy. I find collets leave a mark or gouge the surface. Another advantage (for me) is the compressed load is shaken free.I can say that I've never had a bullet come out that easy ever. It usually takes 3-4 good whacks on the concrete floor to get them out.
I use collet pullers now.
It's not strange to hear your voice since I just spent the last 3 months there...Maybe next time jd. How is it hearing those funny accents again?
you must be strong fella. —there have been times i was amazed they didnt break but i never broke one.I have broken at least three of those hammers.
Whackin on concrete. I now use either a Grip-N-Pull or a collet type. Sometimes vice grips.you must be strong fella. —there have been times i was amazed they didnt break but i never broke one.
Ok so I want to know what broke?I have broken at least three of those hammers.
Well, I can't remember exactly. It's been decades. Plastic failed as I recall. Beating it on concrete. It ya don't swing for the fences as I recall nothing happens. RCBS was the brand of all 3. Not to mention the collet holder coming loose and needing to be re-tightened.Ok so I want to know what broke?
Plastic shattered? Shaft broke? Handle?
Do you recall whose make? What did you strike it against? Was the swing say going for power? Or was it speed?
Material failure is my specialty that’s why I ask. So many variables but now I have 3 failures from one individual, perfect.
I have had the plastic break and have had the shaft bend so bad it was unusable. Repeated hits on hard wood block. It would take 8-10 good hits to pull a bullet and sometimes more. I hated using those things. Grip and Pull now along with a collet puller.Ok so I want to know what broke?
