I have a fairly early Marlin 39a that is in overall fair condition. It functions as it should, but has certainly not been a safe queen. I’ve shot it a good bit, as has my son. The mediocre accuracy led me to run a bore scope down the barrel. There has been corrosion that has been brushed out, lots of use, but more so, it looks as though someone significantly damaged the bore and transitional area with a bore brush. If I had to guess, it would be a stainless brush based on the damage done.
Question, does anyone have guidance on who has a new replacement barrel, and a ‘smith to do the fitment and threading? I’ve searched, and haven’t come up with either a new barrel, or a ‘smith that has experience with Marlin lever rifle barrel replacement.
Thank you, Peter.
