For those that went how many are rethinking things? I was on relay 2 and we were the last ones to shoot and it was not good for a bunch of us. After four 9’s in a row I sat on my gun looking at the conditions and they never got better. So just went for broke. Now I’m a really considering building a 300 wsm just for Phoenix lol. My 7 prcw does what I need it to do for the most part. Maybe switching to 184’s slightly higher bc not sure if they will shoot in my rifle I have the 1 degree lead. Too bad hornady 180 eld-m weren’t more consistent and prone to blowing up (not sure if that’s still an issue) anyhow a lot to think about.

The wind will blow and switch regardless of cartridge. I shoot 7 PRCW / 180 and am not changing yet… a change is a big investment.. move to a 7 Sherman Max buying the reamer, dies and 1000 pieces of brass is $3300 plus barrels…. Maybe the same for 300WSM.. I have decided to continue for another year as is given so many changes going on… if I did it today… I’d dip into 300WSM to see if I can manage it…

You can miss-read the wind with a 300 WSM shooting 215's just as easily as a 7MM shooting 180 hybrids. Get better at reading the wind with what you have. Bigger won't save you.
Well it help if the mirage would indicate the changes that day on that particular relay. Looking through the scope you swear on a stack of bibles the mirage was left to right if I remember right but then it switch with no boil to the mirage so back and forth like a pair of windshield wipers, so it was tough day. If I went 300 wsm I shoot the 220’s.

11:00-1:00 switches and let ups can wreak havoc on any long range target.

Especially mine.

There was a condition for holding edge of frame that lasted about 2 or 3 shots at most, then there was a center hold condition for 2 shots, then about 2 other conditions in between those. About 6 moa change.
I pulled some crazy small/flat shooting 308 FTR targets

You seemed to manage it pretty well yourself. Congrats, again!

Build a 6mm br and get beat up in the wind more. What is the goal? This is a wind reading sport in my opinion. Practice shooting 3 to a mound and force yourself to take more time between shots. You can chase the ballistic advantage or focus on a more lasting skill.

Well considering our closet 1k ranges is shut down come October doesn’t open up until the end of May pretty hard to get this practice in. Everyone is chasing the ballistic advantage look at they latest 7mm that come out 7 max, 7 lbb, 7 fcp all of them are pushing that 180 well past 2900. Will the prcw do it sure but you will get clickers and not so great case life.
