I suspect in Europe, like the US that transportation regulations require that the detonation of one primer in a package not detonate the other primers. In the US this is actually a DOT requirement and must be demonstrated. It's why Federal primers are packaged in a larger package than most others. At one time, and maybe still, the Federals were more sensitive to chain detonation.

I wonder, too, if VV built their outer packaging around a single size for both Large and Small primers. So the only difference in part is what's printed on the label, and the size of the pockets in that plastic tray.

Wish we could get some relief on powder prices…even at the insane prices of the last couple years primers were at max 15cents a piece…powder on the other hand has gone crazy. I have quite a bit stock piled but am definitely not looking forward to buying any!

Lee says to not use them in their round autoprime and some other priming tools they make so maybe VihtaVouri are as sensitive to chain detonation,

This primer restriction applies only to the original round tray Auto-Prime, Auto-Prime 2, year 2022 and older Pro 1000 and Load-Master​

These sizes may be used with 100 primers in the tray:

• All sizes of CCI brand primers
• Winchester small pistol
• All sizes of Remington brand primers

Limit to only 20 primers in the tray of these types:

• Winchester Large Pistol
• Winchester Magnum Pistol
• Winchester Magnum Rifle

Only 10 primers should be loaded in the tray of this type:

• Winchester Large Rifle

Sorry Doom, but the Federal packaging change was due to a catastrophic explosion when a pallet of primers dropped off a forklift around the late 1980's or very early 1990's on the East Coast.

I was shooting PPC at the time and was using Federal primers and there was a 3 or 4 year glut of the primers in Canada, so I set my revolvers up for CCI primers.

VV powder is cheaper and arguably better than the American brand powders, so hopefully the primers will follow along.

Pitiful few powders are made here in the USA.
