Vortex quality control?

I have a G3 and it is not acting right.
Called hoping to get a return label, not the case
CS started off with the over torqued mount conversion, recommend I try mounting the scope again changing the torque settings.

I set aside for now.

So you didn’t try their recommendation?

And what was not acting right about it?

It’s not focusing well on the higher magnification, it does not have that crisp clarity. It’s in a ARC mount, torqued to 40 ish pounds

I’m going to remount the scope and see if that helps when I get a minute
I have other G3’s w/ same mount torqued to 50 and have had no issue

This is on a 223 so I did not torque it as much.

Also wore a Schmidt out. I guess if you never turn the turrets they last longer.
Well then, that is surprising to me
Was it a hunting scope or a PMII?
---
I only brought up the brass internals thing because I cannot believe a $2k scope would not use
Tungsten and steel like Kahles does, all the higher end scopes should for the price they charge

First one was a 5x25 PMII I got rebuilt, probably 7 years ago.that one took a little over 2 weeks. Last one was a 6x36. They actually sent me a loaner. About 7 weeks
getting sent a loaner is pretty dang awesome of them
---
I sent a Kahles back to the factory in Austria once to see if they could modify it for me.
That took about 2 months which I think is pretty good considering overseas and customs and all that
---
I've read some pretty awesome customer service stories from Kahles which is one reason I bought one for a High end scope, they even pulled a watchmaker out of retirement and coaxed him to come into the factory to help refurbish a 40 year old scope to make some of the internals they didnt have in stock any more.
Every other scope Mfgr. would have just said, "that model is discontinued, sorry"
(That story could have been a long lasting good publicity one time exercise though)
I seriously doubt they would do that for everybody

First off let me say I have 9 of them from cheapy 4x12's to Vipers and never had a issue with any of them, nada, zip. This fall in about a weeks time, I had 5 buddies that have them, go south, 3 of them were Diamondbacks, the other 2 were package scopes that came on combos, cheaper ones. I also had a buddy buy 2 and neither one of them would zero. I put a Sig Sauer Buckmaster on the rifle and in 4 shots were zeroed at 100 yds. The 3 diamondbacks took over 1 and 1/2 months to get replaced, all had the same statement that the ring had been overtightened, crushing the internals. I call BS on 2 of them, due to being in Burris rings with the inserts. Anyone else having issues with Vortex?
If that is the case they need to use better materials in their production.
But most likely do not want to admit they have any issues on their end.

If not Vortex what are people getting these days for a good value sub $1K scope? I've been looking for a 30mm scope (or lighter 34mm) for a hunting/6 ARC bolt action (also target shooting out to 1,000 yds) and was tempted to get the 30mm 5-25x50 Viper HD but now I'm having second thoughts.

I'm also looking at the below:

I'd be a stretch for my budget but maybe one of the new NX6's (3-18x50 F1) from Nightforce?

Look at the NF SHV series.
