Most People Don't Have an Accurate enough, ( Bench Rest ) Rifle to Tell, the difference between, the Primer sizes !
And for Slow Burning, ( Coated ) Powders or, Ball Powders, the Large rifle Primer, IS,.. the way to, Go !
My 6 XC w/ 107 gr SMK's "Bug Holes" and the 6.5 Creed w/ 130 to 143 gr Bullets,.. LOVE, StaBall 65 !
My .22-250's Both have, LRP Brass and Shoot,.. very "Well" !
I use Peterson, Lapua and Norma Brass,.. w/ NO detectable,.. Accuracy,.. issues !
CCI 200's and F 210-M primers, Flat out,. "Work" for Me.

Peterson is what I'm going to use. Thats the speed I'm looking for as well!
Then you better be more concerned with barrels than primers lol

Already has short life. The gun won't been shot all that much (200rds yearly) I'm thinking, but this is going to be a huge learning curve for me too!
I get hang fires with wolf small rifle primers, but went away with cci41’s. N555 powder in 6.5cm
Yeah that’s the point. Any brass will outlast that barrel so don’t stress the decision too much.
Have you ever ran IMR 4451 powder with the small primers?

Thanks, I just have a stash of it that have been using in the 6.5 Creed with large primers and was curious about the SRP.
The only experience i have when comparing small vs large primers was in a 308. I had a very good load worked up with federal 210s. A friend convinced me to try the 308 palma brass from Lapua. The large primer brass i was using was also Lapua. So i bought some to try. I did not work up a new load. I loaded the palma brass with exact same powder and charge weight i was using in the LRP brass. I used federal 205s. I did not own a chronograph at the time so no data between the 2. What i noticed at 300 yards was the SRP brass impact was low and right by about 4 inches. My testing was not great and i never tested any more. Dont think i have shot that rifle since.
Yes, as well as H4350 being my go to in 6 & 6.5CM, and RL22 in my 22CM.
Wondering about the 4451 in the 25 Creedmoor.

I get very accurate loads with Lapua SRP brass, 205m, 43.0-44.0 N140 and 155gr Scenar-L, seated long. You'll definitely need to change loads between SRP and LRP Lapua brass.

I only went that high to find what velocity the primer imprinted on the case which occured at 3508fps. The sweet spot was in the 3300fps range.
