6 Major

I’ll be shooting 6Grendel shortly. Throated for 90-95g, I’m guessing 135-140, 8208,4895 range powder. If you try 133 with the 88s share the info.
Tim
I will as soon as I get a barrel... I have a 12 twist that a shoot 68gr bullets through, five rounds touching is normal using N133, H322 and LT-32

Yes, I"m looking for loads with the Berger 88gr HBC FB V bullet and N133.
I think you'll get better speeds and accuracy from a little slower powders, ie 8208, h4895, n140 range. You might get good accuracy from 133 but it's a bit fast for the 87-95 class bullets IME. N135 would be as fast as I'd try, but ya don't know till ya try it either.

8208 is my go to powder with 80's. I can get a bit more speed from some others but that powder has consistently given me great accuracy. Benchmark is another one ya might try.

There are a lot of 6mm with some variants being nearly identical so I grouped those together “/“. I am sure I missed a few. I believe the order as determined by case volume is as follows:

6x45 > 6TCU/6x45AI > 6mm-.204Ruger > 6PPC > 6ARC > (6Grendel / 6mmAR / 6Major / 243LBC / 6Rat) > (6Grinch / 6FatRat / 6mmARTurbo) > 6Max > 6BR > 6BRA > 6BRX > 6Dasher > 6GT > 6x47Lapua > 6XC > 6Creedmoor > .243Win > .243AI > 6Rem/.244Rem

There’s a 6mm cartridge for everyone… pick a case head and start your build :)

Aren't the dimension of the 6 Grendel and the 6 Major the same? Isn't the Grinch a 6 Grendel with a 40 degree shoulder?
Here's a link that might clear up the Major, Grendel, and Grinch a little bit.

The 6 Grendel (or Major) we shot for a few years in 12 (with 68's and 80's) and 14 tw (with 65's and 68's) is pretty competitive at 300yds. Depends on conditions and driver. JME. WD

Barrel twist was my million dollar question. I have 2 barrels both 9 twist, in hindsight I should have had 1 in 10twist.
Whatever twist you have, that twist will determine the bullet used and to me that's the beauty of reloading. I think the 9 twist will work perfectly for the Berger 88's since I've done more research, I think I put the cart before the horse.

My reamer has a .070 throat, little too short for Berger 95 vld. I want as much capacity as I can get. I ordered up ptg uni throater kit to stretch it out some.
Mail truck must be stuck in the snow.
