Hodgdon Reloading Center pressure data

IMR 4064
Start 25.5 vel 3,379 Pressure 43,600 PSI
Max 27.5c vel 3,616 Pressure 52,000 PSI

Hodgdon shows this 204 Ruger load with a max pressure of 52,000 PSI.

Other max loads are up around 56,000 to 57,000 PSI.

I am looking for a lower pressure load for use with a suppressor that is rated up to 55,000 PSI.

From your experience is their pressure data reliable? I don't have Quick Load to run the data.

Unless it is just my computer, your cut/paste image of the load got messed up. I think this is what you were trying to show?

Their pressure data is probably very close to the truth with a given bbl, but barrels have variations.

All pressure data is shown as an averaged value, which is a different way of saying they are not showing you the SD/ES of that pressure value. If a can will not take a penny over 55 KSI, then it isn't safe for centerfire rifles.

A 204 Ruger runs roughly 1700 Joules or 1250 ft*lbs, so if the can is rated for 204 Ruger, they will say so.

The best advice would come from the manufacturer.

First off, I’d like to know who has a suppressor rated for 55,000 psi.

Peak pressure is not how suppressors are rated, it’s muzzle pressure. Muzzle pressure is rarely published. So generally what you can find is a barrel length limit for certain cartridges.

A 30 caliber suppressor might be rated safe for a 6” 300 blackout, but minimum length for 300 WSM 18”. Just depends on the amount and burn rate of the powder, then burn time which is barrel length.

For muzzle pressure estimates you will need something like Quickload or Gordon’s.

I didn't state my question very well. The suppressor is the B&T Tiger TI 22 Multi-caliber rated for .22 LR, .22 Mag, 5.7x28mm, and bolt-action .223 controlled fire.

I was going on the SAAMI Maximum Average Pressure / .223 MAP (PSI) – 55,000 verses the 204 Ruger MAP (PSI) – 57,500.

I was trying to figure out if it would handle the 204 Ruger. I need to get a answer from the manufacturer.

Thanks

You can try it. ONCE. Make sure you have ear pro on!

I promise you that you will be sorely disappointed. I have (4) 22LR cans rated for 5.7x28mm, and the sound suppression is abysmal at best. Their physical size and internal volume is too small to be effective noise attenuators in anything larger than a 22LR.
