I build bamboo fly rods, on my 23rd now. Good way to spend a lot of time! Still using my 10-10 you tuned for me, Scott. Your graphite rods look great

Morbid curiosity, how does Bamboo compare to graphite in pricing? I took an R&R in spring of 1970 and bought two, #3 9-footer and a same length #7 at a little shop recommended by Base X-change in Yakota, Japan. Tonkin cane and light as a blade of grass.

Most graphite rods would cost less than bamboo. It’s the 40+ hours of labor that makes them so expensive, materials are not that much. I’ve never wanted to sell one, but they made awesome gifts.

On to the next! 7’ fiberglass blank for a 3/4 wt line. Amboyna burl real seat with nickel silver fittings. I will have a very difficult time letting this one go.

A Sage, Orvis or Winston rod will run right at 1K$ for comparison. They are not pretty rods in the slightest.
