Reloader 15 replacement for 6BRA

I just got a rifle that the previous owner was using reloader 15 and 105 gr barts in, after some brief searching it appears r15 is hard to find and insanely expensive, besides N140 what are some other good options?

N150 probably be closer. I’ve always found RL15 to be a bit slower than Varget (my personal choice). RL15.5 might be available but rather expensive. It’s slower than 15 but should work as well.

N150 works really well in my br's and dashers with 105 hybs, 105 hammers and 103 daggers

N140 or N135 work well in BRA. RL15.5 does as well and you should be able to find a good load there. It's what I shot for a good while and was fairly competitive .

That’s most likely what I’ll go with, I don’t have any N140. Start around 30 gr and work up I’m assuming?

It is my understanding that Norma 203B is virtually identical to RL 15. H4895, and Varget also work. There are differences on what amount of neck tension is best for each powder.

I started using up some old Accurate 4064 for fireforming new brass and it shot amazing.
I also tried Varget , N140, N135

I use Varget or H4895 in my 1:8 twist BRA with 105 class bullets, and I have N140 on deck to try. My 1:12 twist rifle gets 8208 XBR and 80 grain bullets.

I switched to vv140 with 103 vapor trail bullets. Getting 115/16”- 2 5/16” groups at 600 when I tested loads.

I’m not sure how it’s rated but H4895 IMO can be finicky with lot to lot variations, when you get it right it can shoot really small.
IMR 4064 is another powder that can shoot real small at the top end.

Varget, H4895, AR-Comp, N150, N540 but a bit temp sensitive, and H4350 has given surprisingly good groups and low ES though GRT shows it as only 96% burn.

I'm guessig that they have the same source - is it Bofors? So if R15 is in short supply, due to military stockpiling...

with 1100-1400 rounds of barrel life with H4895, I think that I would look elsewhere. R#15 and Varget are in the same Heat Index range of H4895....choose your poison.

If I could have only one powder, it might just be IMR 4064.

It's my 6BR go to powder.

When I was shooting a 6br with 103's and 105's a few years ago looking for options for R15, I was pleasantly surprised at how well Imr 4064 shot, also very surprised that WW748 shot quite well too. Fast forward to today's offerings I'd be tempted to try the WW Stabil Match which is right there close to them on the burnrate chart. JME WD
