Choice of brass?

I doubt many people would call me a "precision" shooter or reloader.

That being said, I do enjoy shooting short range benchrest and F-Open.
Although almost all of my rifles are geared towards hunting vs competition shooting.

For brass, the only 3 that I have not used is Alpha, Lapua, and ADG.

I have Peterson brass for my 284 Win and the 257 & 7mm WBY Mag.
Also some Norma in the WBY cartridges.
223 Rem I'm using Starline.
I have used LC brass for it also.

For all of the other cartridges I shoot, I've been switching over to PPU (PVRI PARTIZAN).
The quality has been surprisingly good given the low price point.

Just came in for the 7BR build. Got the squirrels out gathering more nuts
from under all our snow......350 pieces in their nice boxes.

Been shooting Lapua SRP for the last eight years , both for practice and Competition . I've just finished prepping 75 cases of Starline for their initial firing , and will shoot them tomorrow . I was informed by a recent National Champion that I can use the same load , primer and set-up as the Lapua case with no difference .
Will report back how they work out .

I bought a bunch of 6.5 CM Starline brass to experiment with neck turning because I didn't want to turn my Lapua brass and was pleasantly surprised. It has more volume and seems to take pressure and is the most accurate at this point with what I have done with it. But I have no idea how long it will last. It's as good as you can make it.
Have you tested lr primer brass vs sr primers in the 6.5 creed? Inquiring minds want to know.

Personally I've found Lapua, Peterson and Alpha to be best, but nothing Ive found is better than the Alpha Munitions. After fireforming in my 6BR, it has only needed trimming once in 12 firings! Ive never seen brass that stable before.

I have gone through Nosler, Hornady, Remington and Winchester. Out of those four, Winchester shot the worst and Nosler shot the best, for me. After fooling with those four, I went to Lapua and have never looked back. None of the previous four shot as long, or equal to, or better than, the Lapua.

You can make them both work great but I have found that I need a little more powder with SRP's but it makes sense and the primer pockets will take more pressure. I have to use a few more grains of powder with the SRP brass to get the same results I do with LRP's with the powders I use. But they both shoot as good as I can. I'm sure other people have more knowledge about them than I do. I just like the LRP's because I already have plenty of LRP brass. I don't load max loads and I don't shoot in sub freezing weather so I can shoot just as good with either.

FWIW, my GAPrecision 6mmCM does not like Petersen brass. Extracting the fired round raises a small burr on the case head. It doesn't happen with my RPR. Lapua and Hornady brass doesn't raise a burr when extracted in the GAP rifle.

For whatever it’s worth I have shot and used just about every manufacturer out there but I haven’t had a smith build a gun for me in the last 20-25 years that I can’t get Lapua brass for. I did buy some Peterson for a 6 creedmoor however the Lapua shot so well in it I’ve never loaded the Peterson but I will say it measured up extremely well in a nice box. I’m not the Alpha fan that everyone else but I guess it’s ok.

I've lately been using SIG brass in 223 and 308 (LRP). Case weight variations have been minimal and accuracy is excellent. ES and SD as good or better than other brands.

I only have loaded 30/06 in rifle calibers regularly .
30/30 and 308 have crossed my bench also but just standard hunting loads, not any precision target loads .
Lucked into a large quantity of LC 63 back when I started loading.
Do have some federal cases that I have started using .
I will be loading a 17 Hornet soon and the case selection is very limited .
Want to try some Starline .

500 Peterson srp .308 cases showed up at the PO this morning. Looks good so far. Will be prepping a 100 rnd range box and get it in line for testing as soon as possible. Whatta Hobby!
