DOJ: Ban on mailing concealable firearms unconstitutional, can’t be enforced

How could one actually mail a concealable firearm if the post office is off limits? Or is that already a dead issue from other laws/regulations?
They made it hard, and expensive.

1. FFL to FFL (can use USPS or others)

2. Or using Ship My Gun which has a special agreement with UPS.

Few other obscure cases but these would be the most common that follow the law and shippers rules.

A win is a win and, as 2A goes, any win for our side is a good thing.
The only issue I see with shipping a handgun USPS is the USPS itself. If they can't do any better with even junk mail how can we trust them with shipping a handgun?
That said, I noticed the "No Firearms" signs at USPS and banking institutions were taken down in my state. Not sure that means it's legal now but I do see handguns on display of others in the banks from time to time. BTW, I highly recommend checking your state's laws before doing this. Alabama is, for a while now, a Constitutional Carry State. There is no permit required to carry openly here now. I still keep a valid permit as I often travel to and through other states.

If you did mail one the post office would conveniently lose it and you wouldn't get a penny of the insurance coverage! UPS and Fed-Ex have almost tripled their insurance premiums. Internal theft is a shipping problem that you pay for!

Yeah well once actually settled you'd need to carry it in boxed just as we do now for long guns.

The sign on the PO door is really misleading as it's referring to bringing any firearm into the PO that is not for shipment (like concealed or open carry).

That said given the history of the PO, the risks appear to be from employees not customers. I have shipped long guns via the PO and the only issue I ever had was needing to educate them on their own rules. The postmaster general and the ATF were quite helpful there, a complaint to each and couple days later I get a call from the local postmaster apologizing and please bring it in for shipment. This would be in the city, in rural areas this is never an issue.

DOG announced this decision in response to a lawsuit filed by GOA. GOA obviously is strategically picking this issue apart. They chose family members and intra-state shipping.

The interesting part to me is DOJ’s stated position on non-ffl citizen to citizen transfer.
