Relining a Model 43 Winchester Barrel

Relining can be done . Redman (?) use to make liners in .222, 223 measures. Going from memory as it was 15+ years ago. I used jb weld on the last one . Was much easier than using solder . Been thinking of trying loc tite on my next 22 lr reline project .
If liners are no longer available, you can always get a barrel and turn down to the dimensions you want say .300 , bore the original barrel .302( or more ) and have your chamber and rifling in one piece .

If I was planning to reline a 218 Bee, I would be inclined to essentially rebarrel it with a skinny barrel and sleeve that with a sleeve made form the original barrel. This way, the chamber and threads are one piece and are more robust. The appearance is as original. This isn't supper easy, since the barrel has to be turned to about 1/2 inch for at least half its length. I would then step up to 5/8, and would make the chamber section about .1" smaller than the factory barrel. Then you have to drill the barrel out to make a sleeve. This is just tedious but not too difficult. You might not be able to go to 1/2 at the muzzle end. I think the factory barrel is around .6"with a sight dovetail which is .090" deep.
I just looked and notice Ggmac mentioned something similar. I've done this on a few barrels. It's a chore. I've used Acraglas, and high temp Loc-Tite. The Acraglas is actually easier. With either one, the sleeve must slip easily over the barrel. WH

Awhile back, I was looking on the PacNor site, and the section titled
"WHAT BARRELS CAN WE DO", listed the model 43, but not all of em. As I recall, serial #'s were specified, and I can't remember if it was earlier or later ones.

If you want to get a really good barrel, for it you might make a phone call.. jd
