284 OL + ?

Friend got some 284 reloads that are a little long to fit the mag. We don't have a seater die. Would like a 30 06 seater work?
ty
30/06 May deform the bullet tip (larger ID of stem allowing tip contact, it may or may not work
He can try it and see where on the ogive the seating stem makes bullet contact)
a 7mm Mag or maybe a .270 Seater might work better though

So just curious, your friend aquired some 284 "reloads" , but doesn't reload for 284 himself?
(Other peoples Reloads can be risky if you dont know the combination put together in the load is all)

Agree. He sent his brass out to a service that reloads. It comes back in a custom cardboard box [red] it looks factory.

A 7mm Rem. Mag seater die would work, if you were able to adjust the seating stem down far enough (approx. 1/2").
If you are going to attempt something like this, learn how to look up and interpret dimensioned drawings of cartridges.
The fact that some nameless person on AS forum says it's OK or not OK is meaningless. You need to KNOW what sort of dimensions you're dealing with.

And, in the same breathe, sometimes you do what you have to do. Pushing a bullet in a few thou isn't dark magic.
