Remington 40X in 6BR

There is no bolt included with this rifle. I purchased this 40X new in 1980-81 and had Remington put on a 6mm BR barrel. The receiver had a magazine but I had a sleeve fitted to make it a single shot with a McMillan stock. Unfortunately, the original bolt was trued up to my other benchrest rifle because the only brass available in the mid 1980s was full length .308 with a small primer and I was tired of all the case work. Short action bolts are even available on ebay.

This rifle is up for auction on Gun Broker and will end in a week. My reserve is set at $350.

Yes, I bought this original 40X new in 1981 with a wooden stock and in 22-250.. I sent the rifle back to Remington and had a 6BR barrel put on . The sleeve was added for stability because it was originally a repeater with a magazine. I used the original bolt in another rifle Harold Broughton built for me and packed the Remington away for 40 years.

Walter
