SELLING Redfield Sight Repair

I was having trouble with a Redfield Olympic rear sight and looked for someone to fix it. After searching some very old threads the name Phil Scholl came up. Evidently Phil has been repairing sights for a long time. He worked on scopes and sights at the Redfield plant in Denver. He evidently is looking for more work and asked me to put his name out there. So here it is. If this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move it.

You’ll probably have to leave a message and wait for a return call. I’m very happy with job he did on my sight. Also he said he is in the market for Redfield sight parts if you happen to have some.

After many years of not being used the knobs on the sight would not turn without pliers. I sent the sight to Phil and it appears he cleaned and lubed it which I assumed it had to be disassembled to accomplish that. I’ve heard of someone who stamped his work with a dove but there is no such stamp. I’m happy with the outcome.

Phil sent the sight back to me when finished. There was no info in the postal flat rate box. I waited a couple weeks and then sent a text to Phil. He did not answer. I waited another week and called him. He said $30. Since he paid $12 to send the sight back to me I thought I should at least send him $42. I sent him $50and felt pretty good about it. Sight didn’t work, now it works. Worth it to me and happy to have someone around that will still do this work. Good luck.

Phil will talk to you for a long time about sights, scopes and drag racing if you let him. Really nice man.

The stamp you refer to is a chicken. As a silhouette chicken. If you send him a sight and don't want his mark, you gotta tell him.

Really, really cool info. There’s a lot of those old Olympic and International sights out there. They will all need a repair one day.
