Ideas on tuner

Link

rifle 6br, 1-8 t, Conditions - EC tuner, not a flag moving, overcast no mirage. 2 shot groups. Smith worked up a 100 yd load, -2 moa. Started the test flush at 0 went in in #2 increments. First target at 0, second at #2 etc. #3 was the best set at #4. Groups opened up and shot a repeare of setting #4 target 3. Targets 7+8 which were set on #4 on target 3.
Should I move the tuner more than 1 revelation?
If this sounds FUBAR I am.
ty Don.
Edit targets at 200 yd.

Hello, When you say "Started the test flush at 0 ", does that mean the tuner is turned (tightened) all the way in and landed on a zero, or turned out the 3 plus revolutions to a zero setting?

I started out, turned all the way out and set at a zero, then moved one number at a time (tightened) for 3 revolutions and it bottomed out at on a zero. I also shot 3 shot groups, which is not necessary.

You already know this: You want them to dot up/one hole if possible. Look for a string of groups which hit your point of aim consistently and the holes touch.

Thanks

IMHO, if you are turning the EX tuner 2 complete marks, you are missing a lot of real-estate. I move my EC tuners 1/2 mark and get a lot of change from that. Nothing wrong with going over a full rotation I suppose but I would narrow up the spread.
Taking the time and making the effort to turn the tuner only one increment per change will produce a finer degree of zeroing in on the "sweet spot". Many test have shown there is adequate response by using this method to recognize the affects.

IF I was EVER going to hang a tuner off of my barrel it would be the most famous gunsandgunsmithin tuner.....but that's me :p
Just received one of Mike's tuners and I have to say I am impressed no doubt. It is a well made product and he will spend time on the phone with a customer to explain his findings and how to test. Good job Mike.

EC's V1 tuner goes from 0-30 whereas his V2 goes from 0-50. if i remember correctly the recommended approach with the V1 is to turn the tuner in 2 mark increments where the V2 recommends 5 mark increments?

I've never had to turn a full revolution on either version. On the V1 I try the even marks ( 0-2-4-6...) and once I see the group close up, and then start to open up again, I go backwards on the odd marks. With the V2 I use 0-5-10-15 and then reverse similarly. I'm sure there are different approaches but this has worked for me.

I own several V2 Cortina tuners as well. I agree roughing in the tune with 5 mark intervals is O K but I find it still pays to go back and test one or two marks on both sides of the rough find. Several different ways to find tune but this works best for me and Erik recommends this on one of his podcast.
