SOLD Super 14 44 Rem Mag Barrel

Original Super 14 TC Contender barrel chambered in 44 Rem Mag. Barrel is in good condition, seen a couple small scratches as well as rub marks from the receiver. Some speckles of rust on the left side. Must have set on foam for a bit. Weaver base on the rear. Bright and shiny bore with the deep glossy blue on the outside of the barrel. Split. Just curious, is one more desirable than the other? I seen the split was for easy open actions.

In 1978 I moved to Idaho. A local gunsmith named Lou Schaeffer (sp?) rechambered 44M barrels to a 444 Schaeffer Magnum. He had dies made to a 44 Magnum FL on the 444 Marlin case. I had mine done, and it was a real hammer in a Super 14. I killed a very nice 5x5 Bull Elk with it using a 320gr Keith-style cast bullet.

Not necessarily more valuable, but better fit on some frames. I currently have a Super 14 in .44 Mag that will not lock up properly due to its solid locking lug and will pop open upon firing magnum loads. It does the same on my other frame, so was hoping to find a split lug bbl.
