how do you guys like the benchmark barrels and how many groves do you have in your barrels thanks
I don't have one but, I have been beat by many people that do.how do you guys like the benchmark barrels and how many groves do you have in your barrels thanks
You can't go wrong with the 3G I have had about 12 done over the last 13 years in various contours and all have been really good barrels not one disappointed me.how do you guys like the benchmark barrels and how many groves do you have in your barrels thanks
I assume you're referring to the bore being taper-lapped. As far as I know, most SS custom rimfire barrels are taper-lappedIs it them who has the tapered bore or choked?
they never used to till one of them started it with the 1022 barrels.I assume you're referring to the bore being taper-lapped. As far as I know, most SS custom rimfire barrels are taper-lapped
You need to go back in history past 10/22 custom builds as for example Bill Calfee built RFBR rifles he handed tapered lapped barrels way before the popularity of 10/22 builds were around.they never used to till one of them started it with the 1022 barrels.
to the general public NO. The ones I was talking about was from breech to muzzle. NOT just the muzzle end a little tighter like most custom hand lapped barrels are. These where done on a then new technology with the SUNNEN Hone. It could feel the tight spots and do extra lapping at any tight spots and be programmed to do a full lapping with the taper from one end to the other. You need to go back in history past 10/22 custom builds as for example Bill Calfee built RFBR rifles he handed tapered lapped barrels way before the popularity of 10/22 builds were around.

I don't think you understand taper lapped is not just at the muzzle. the so call choke at the muzzle is not what a good tape lapped barrel would have it would be a gradual taper from breech end to the muzzle end. the better the barrel the smoother the transition as you get closer to the muzzle end.to the general public NO. Benchmark uses a computerize Sunnen honing machine to first hone the drilled bore blank to get the best consistency prior to pulling the rifling button after that is done then it is hand taper lapped. as far as I know they been doing this for more than 15+ years

Read what I posted. I know what taper is and how it works.I don't think you understand taper lapped is not just at the muzzle. the so call choke at the muzzle is not what a good tape lapped barrel would have it would be a gradual taper from breech end to the muzzle end. the better the barrel the smoother the transition as you get closer to the muzzle end.

Tim, If I am not mistaken Bill Myers helped with the development of the 2G benchmarks. he worked with BM.Lee,
A good 25 years. Billy Myers fit a ton of them
Ok seems you do. but this is where the confusion is-they never used to till one of them started it with the 1022 barrels. 10/22 barrels were not the first barrels to be taper lapped.Read what I posted. I know what taper is and how it works.
