OMG... Pivot Shooting Bench Found

In a word Danny....no. At least not by me any more.

We sold the rights and patent to Battenfield Technologies (MidwayUSA) back in 2007, and instead of producing the bench here in the USA, they outsourced it offshore to the ChiCom's under their "Caldwell" banner, much to my chagrin. They did not offer the Lite model, and substituted some alloy components with steel, making their BRP heavier, but still fully functional. Midway never offered the Lite model, nor did they offer the ballistic nylon carry/storage bag sets we contracted with the Red Oxx Co. in Billings, MT to produce either.

Not sure of the exact reason(s), but they have since dropped it from their catalog and website. That fact explains why some shooters are on the hunt for used ones out there. Our buddy Mike in Oregon won the "bench lottery" by finding one still in the box, unused and pristine.

They're still out there, even the Lite model, but getting harder to find every year now.

We did the deal, and I mailed him out a check (with fingers and toes crossed) and hope the seller was on the up and up. Yesterday the wife and I made the drive to go get it. This morning, I opened it up to have a look. Unreal......, this is a brand-new BR Pivot Deluxe, complete with Red Ox caring case and tags! The bottom of the feet don't even have scratches on them. This was never set up. Not sure when was the last year of production (2007?), but this bench was sitting in storage for the past 20 years. Theres a back story to this and why it was sold. The seller's brother had died some time ago and a lot of his shooting stuff was untouched for a very long time.

Thank you, brother, you will be thought of though-out my varminting years, this is a God send, and the bench will be used!

It's a shame that Midway made it turn out that way, because, honestly, it was the only portable bench I could consider, and more so, when you made and sold them.

I bought one of the Caldwell BR Pivots with the plastic top before they were discontinued maybe 4yrs back.
Set it up in my foyer. Unbelievably lt turned over with me! l am fortunate to have a friend who owns an ORIGINAL 0regon model. Absolutely no comparison. l have seen a few claiming to be 0riginal 0regon models on GunBroken and ebay
CORRECTION: My daughter bought the DAMN thing:-(

BAM, the 'Stable Table' was Caldwell's answer to a el-cheapo version of the BRP after they had secured my patent. No alloy (all thin gauge mild steel), no girder milled components, funky adjustments via location holes/pins vs actual T-handle screw adjustments. Plus the fact it's entirely made in China with Chinese components and materials. Side-by-side comparison to the original is stunning as noted by sw282 above.

For those on a tight budget, it works, but lacks any degree of mechanical sophistication, and as a result is not nearly as robust and comes nowhere near the original in terms of execution and overall quality and was entirely made with US materials by US citizen shooters by a veteran-owned company.

Anyone ordering one should be aware to avoid the optional silly small plastic bench top and specify the laminated wood top if you're serious at all about what the thing is intended for.

Congratulations on winning the lottery, the BR Pivot are certainly worth hunting for and I see you have the top on the correct way :cool:
I was lucky enough many years ago to find a used one for sale, I can't recall where, but I didn't waver and bought it and had it shipped to my friend in Indiana.
He took it out west a couple of times when he and his mates went pd shooting
Then I got it shipped to me in New Zealand, one of the best purchases I ever made.

I always wanted a BR Pivot Lite, but Rick had sold the BR Pivot and wasn't making them anymore so I grabbed the first used one that I found, lucky I did because every other one I found for sale was already sold before I found it.
