Eabco barrels?

Looking at the Eabco barrels for a Contender. Are they worth the money or should I look some where else?

Would that be the Edward A. Brown Co. barrels?

Never been a Contender fan, but from memory those barrels were a staple for that crowd some years ago. Never heard anything disparaging about them.

I own a 6 ARC Eabco for my AR. It shoots well. Follow their break in procedure and you'll be fine. Never had an issue with accuracy.

I have used their Savage barrels in the past. They have all shot well.

I have not used one of their Contender barrels, but I have had a couple of Encore barrels pass through here. Both of them shot well. One I sold due to moving off of that particular cartridge (220 Swift) and the other I chopped down to handgun length and then gave to a good friend, who is still using it (7X57).

I have also shot one of their single shot handguns, which used their barrels. It was a good firearm as well. It moved on when I got out of shooting IHMSA.

WV Hitman on this website shoots nothing but contender type pistols. PM him. He probably has more experience than anyone.

Just heard a guy at our last varmint shoot complaining about his new EABCO Contender barrel in 17 Hornet. He said it shoots patterns, not groups. He is experienced handloader and often wins our varmint matches, so he seems to know what he’s doing. He was most unhappy that no one from EABCO would return his calls.

I have used their Savage barrels in the past. They have all shot well.

I've a 358Win barrel of theirs. Easily shoots well enough given the chambering.
Meaning, that's no long range cartridge.

If YOU can't hit what you're aiming at OR, it won't group, bore scope won't fix it for you.
And, if it produces a 5 shot group that can be covered with a dime and the bore scope says it's junk, who you gunna believe??

A borescope may not tell you exactly how its gonna shoot but sure will tell you how its gonna copper foul.
I'll take a sage rat barrel that will shoot good for 200 rounds vrs one that shoots clean but after 50 rounds won't because its all copper fouled then you spend hours cleaning it.

L. Sherm hit the nail on the head. IN addition, having a uniform bore from front to back to the 0.0001 is another important factor.

When you bore scope a new, unfired barrel, if it looks rough, it is like trying to fix a bag girl friend.

I have seen some brands of new barrels so rough that within 3 rounds down the barrel, you have a gold-plated bore.

The EABCO barrel I just changed to on my AR15 in 6ARC looks and shoots the same as the previous two 6ARC barrels I had on the rifle. Added a tuner brake and shoot 600 yard 8" plates each month. Results are not good and have never been good with that 6 ARC.

From Hornady to Starline brass - LVR powder and different bullets the results with the EABCO barrel are the same as the other two barrels I had - Bartlett custom and , I forget the first one. A few shots on target and then a shift in impact point.

To me the EABCO barrel is not the problem. I just cannot get any barrel in 6 ARC to shoot well.
