RCBS Automatic Primer Seater

My current primer seater has come to the end of its very useful life. Along with my hand problems I need something besides a hand primer seater.

I’ve been looking at the RCBS Automatic Primer Seater. Looking for opinions from people that have used them and if primers are seated to the bottom of the primer pocket.

Thanks for any help.

Thank you for the reply. That is the one I’m looking at. Been having trouble with seating depth with my hand primer. I will plan to get one.
Remember to put the little clip pin back into the primer tube each time before you fill it. I lay the pin in my priming flip tray so I don’t forget it.

I use it. I have taped a couple of 240 gr bullets to the far side of the arm that flips back and forth. It insures the arm flips back.
I have also added about 1/2 inch of foam padding to the top of the actuating handle. It makes it easier on the arthritis in my hands as I seat the primers.

I have one of these and they are fantastic tools. The only 2 drawbacks I have with mine are, you don't have a depth limit adjustment and you lose the ability to feel the primer while seating. If you have a loose primer pocket, you are probably not going to even notice.

I have wore out several primer seaters over the years. In got tired of messing with them and just use the seater that came with the RCBS press . You don't have to load it just put them in one at a time.

I have had trouble with my RCBS bench tool. Agree that it's easy to use and easy on the arthritic hands but, mine has had issues getting the primers to seat deep enough and frequently leave them a little proud of flush. RCBS sent me a new seating stem for the unit free, but it did not really improve on seating depth. I now use the Derraco Engineering PCPS priming tool. That tool is machined like a Swiss watch and even has click-adjustable seating depth.
Derraco.com or Amazon which is where I ordered mine.

I have a Lyman. mount on board pull handle & go 2 it works great & u can feel the primer seat. good luck. Steve

I'll second the Derraco PCPS , I've tried a bunch of priming tools, hand and bench style, the PCPS is the best of all of them, hands down.. Was another thread on here about adding a Holland adjuster kit to the RCBS, it's 170.00, PCPS is far simpler and cheaper. there's two versions, with micro adj, and without, the without is cheaper or the same as the RCBS unit alone, just have to treat it the same as adj a seater die.
