Dillon PSA

Just an FYI... There are a couple of typos in the Dillon 550 C (May 2017) manual.

If you are ordering a caliber conversion kit for a 6.5 Creedmoor, the manual says (page 17) you need kit # 62246. The books says that kit contains shell plate #M - #13230. Then again on page #19 the manual states that shell plate #M is for 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 Grendel.
HOWEVER when you order conversion kit # 62246, it comes with shell plate #1.

I called Dillon to question/verify which shell plate should come with kit #62246 and the man on the phone said it should come with shell plate #1.

The man on the phone couldn't have cared less that the manual is wrong. And he couldn't cares less that I wasted my time and money by ordering a conversion kit that I don't need. If everyone that works at Dillon has this mans attitude or level of service, I would never buy from Dillon again. He couldn't even muster up an apology....

I apologize for the inconvenience and time lost. The current manual, last updated on April 2023, lists the #1 shellplate as being the shellplate included in the 6.5 Creedmoor conversion kit. When the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge was first introduced, the Hornady brass was a bit undersized. We used the M shellplate at that time. With more manufacturers making this cartridge, and current Hornady cases being more dimensionally correct, we changed this to the #1 plate a few years ago.

Thank you for posting this. It's a completely different response than what I got on the phone and I appreciate it.
Regarding the manual; I just bought this press from a well known online retailer on July 15th so why would it have a manual from 2017 in the box? Should I assume the press was made 6 - 8 years ago? If so, has there been any updates or improvements in that time?
Lastly, I'm not as concerned or frustrated with my time spent as I am the money I spent unnecessarily.....

I guess now my bigger concern/curiosity is did I just buy a brand new 8 year old press?

Again, thank you for your response and apology.

We don't have loaders older than June of 2025 in the warehouse. I highly doubt that any dealer has a machine more than 3 months old in their inventory. As long as your loader is the 550C you are all current. We don't update manuals very often. We are still using up 2017 manuals, but are now including an insert with the updated conversion charts. PM me your name and address and I can mail one to you.
