WANTED Heavy Sand

Just figured I would through it out there but, is it possible that sand blasting grit would work for you? It is much heavier than regular sand but, I don't think it is quite as heavy as heavy sand. Just a suggestion.
It might but I only need a small amount and figured someone might have some laying around. Thanks

This is where I got my zircon sand, they have just about all there is.
They have a display with Close to 100 jars of different sands.
That would be nice but I don't need a 50 lb bag and I'm on east coast (Kentucky) but would be nice lol

i have some sand blasting media i purchased just for this use. i think its the next heavy to zircon. i could send you some for shipping—. could get more info if youd like.

I’ve got some leftover here in Henderson, NV. I could probably shove it in a small usps flat rate box - you cover shipping and it’s yours. Brian

Try Amazon for garnet sand, almost as heavy as zircon and quite a bit cheaper. Free shipping if you have Prime.

Do you have a Harbor Freight near you? I believe they sell a black blasting sand.
May be the easiest for you to source.
I'm gonna go searching tomorrow. I shoot 6 BR Ackley also and absolutely love it. Easy button as far as reloading
Just FYI, my TS has it for about $14 a bag. You will have enough for yourself and friends . I buy the more coarse media because it doesn't seap out of thread holes and such.
I think i found a friend with some excess lead shot and I'm gonna mix it and some media. It's at 16 lbs right now but I'm shooting for 20 lbs

A company I once worked for many years ago owned one of, or maybe the only US based, plant that grinds volcanic rock down to fine grit (Heavy Sand). That plant was located in SC somewhere about an hour or more from Anderson, SC. While working projects in Greenville we got a call to help the plant out with some environmental process control issues. While I was visiting we walked by a 20 ft high pile of Heavy Sand! I'm sure the plant manager would have allowed me to haul off a truck load. Interesting enough, the stones were shipped from the beaches of France. Wish I could just remember the name of the plant...
