Burning house with ammo

I sure feel bad for the first responders (and my neighbors) if my house catches on fire. But, at least I have the decency to store my pallet of shotgun shells in a shed way out in the country, away from civilization!

Yeah if you haven't been out to SAAMI and watched the videos on both drop/crush tests and fire, it's well worth your time. Basically most everything else you have in your house/garage is more volatile and if you watch those you'll see for yourself. I especially liked the cat running over and grinding into the concrete ammo only for it to be a non-event. Kinda shows why you can fly with far more ammo than a person would think would be allowed as opposed to lithium batteries which as we all know are pretty nasty when they cook off.

Wasn't my house.

It's not the loaded ammo that is the problem.
It's the large quantity of gunpowder.
Both smokeless and black powder.
The Black stuff will be an issue… Smokeless just adds a bit to the flames.
I have mentioned this previously on a different issue, if an Insurance company finds out the you have stored quantities of explosive {primers} & highly flammable products {Gun powder} in your house they are most likely to use that as an excuse to deny any claim involving a fire….
Best check with your insurance company and declare that you have these items and see if they will still cover you for loss.

My brother's new waterfront house burned down last year. He and his wife were away at the time. He had a dozen 1lb & 2lb propane tanks in the garage. The neighbors, who were 1/2 mile across the lake, kept hearing random explosions as the house went up in flames. I don't think anyone heard and of the shotgun ammo going off. LOL
