Shooting from the bench, machine rest or bipod?

I have just completed a KIDD Supergrade 10/22 clone rifle. I'm hoping to resume Rimfire Metallic Silhouette shooting after an 11-year absence.
I own a Cowan front rest as well as a Sinclair Competition front rest. Everybody and their brother seems to be using a bipod these days. What am I missing here? My new build has a Victor Titan stock which has provisions for an ARCA rail if need be. I have always felt that I would be better off with a rest and bags. I'm looking for opinions on the best way to go. In addition, if I were to go with a bipod, what would be a reasonably priced, ARCA capable bipod?

If you're shooting for your own fun a front rest and heavy rear bag will help you achieve the best precision.
That is what I have always done in the past. It is yet unclear if that will be allowed in the discipline that I am preparing for. Thanks for your reply.

Shooting from a rest and bag will be more stable than a bipod. Isn't silhouette shot standing free hand?

What discipline are you preparing for?

Smallbore Silhouette is an offhand game, although different rules may be applied by groups not concerned with participating in the orthodox matches. We had a BPCR inspired variant where chickens were shot offhand and the other targets from cross sticks, just like Black Powder Cartridge Rifle Silhouette.
