6BR-Berger 109H-RE15

I'd say your looking for a place to start.
So with seating depth I'd say either start at Jam or 20 jump..
Powder charge maybe 27g and go .3 at a time. Find the best group and do a seating depth test 3 thousandths increments. Both directions.

I did read a while ago that RE15 would be in short supply for a while, due to it's use in military ammo. Isthis still the case? If it is, perhaps you should use an alternative for load development.

Or just use 30g Varget and 15 thou off the lands and tune from there.
30 gr. of Varget with the 105 - 109 gr. class bullets is hard to beat in a rifle that will shoot. My experience with tuning is .006 - .010 jam from just touch. I turn the tuner after that.

RL anything has been virtually “Unobtainium” for years across the ditch and the odd lots that once and a while show up and vanish within hours at astronomical prices!
Stick with the Varget/AR2208, going well in my 6BR 1:8T x 28” Benchmark
— 30.1gr, CCI 450’s + Sierra 107’s {the new “pointed” ones} jumped .020 in my barrel/chamber {JGS} Peterson brass.

Same over here. I try to stick to a few common powders that do everything that I need. I do have a cupboard full of odd product that I have accumulated over the years - but what's the point - other than times when there have been shortages - I stick to the familiar. To be fair - I have worked up loads with all the "odd" powders, to keep shooting during famines.

Other than 2208 (Varget) 2209 (H4350) ,2213Sc (H4831) and 2206H (H4895) - I have sufficient RL17. 6.5 Staball, Staball Match, IMR4831, RL 26, N150, N550, R16, to blow the shed up. Pls don't tell our government.

ps... Im saving the pennies to get some CCi450's. The kids will just have to go hungry.

There’s really only 2 places to start seating work, and that’s into the lands as far as you’d ever go (only you know this) and the touch point.

I don’t like to jam/go in/seat past touch/whatever the internet calls it this week…. So I start every single rifle at .000 off the lands, and start working away from them from there about .003 at a time. It’s extremely rare for me to get past .020 off the lands before I’ve found groups at or .100”.

I say this all the time, but if you do good case prep, pick a sensible primer and powder and do your seating depth first, powder charge is almost irrelevant. Almost… you can definitely get one too hot and you’ll see shots spit out of the group.

I hear you about the CCI primers, I saw the “writing on the wall” about 5 years ago and bought up all I could find. I still look wistfully at the carton that was under $100 and smile… Finally showing up on the market again in sm rifle but if you want the BR4’s at $37.50 they are now almost a 1/3 more expensive than the 450’s $24.00.
Still no Lg rifle available…:rolleyes::(

I found a packet of BR4's yesterday. I may auction it on Ebay to pay for a holiday. 450's are NZ$269-299 here. I counted my primer stash over the weekend. I have enough LR for a lifetime - and only 1 calibre, currently, that uses them - 6.5 Creed -(oher than the "play toys" - 303 and the ilk) - which I may start using more. Last season I shot more 6 BR than anything else. I guess that I will get some 308LP brass for club days and save the SP brass for competition - and wait for the price to come down.........
