Houston Area

I'm with my family in the Galveston, TX area for the 4th. We've been to several places in Houston and in between Galveston doing family stuff. We will be in Houston again tomorrow and I want to visit the go to place for reloading supplies. Where can I stop by to see for a short visit? Always on the hunt for primers, powder, or barrel blanks.

From your Las Cruces location, it looks like you will be heading back West via I-10. The best place to purchase powder that I have seen in Texas is the store located at Bexar Community Shooting Range just a bit South of I-10 and just East of San Antonio.

15391 Bexar Bowling Marion, TX 78124

If you go to the San Antonio area you may try these:
Fehners in Gonzalez Tx. It is also a feed mill and agricultural supply. Have a nice gun store there. It is on the south side leaving Gonzalez.
The other one is Mumme's in Hondo Tx. They have a really good gun store there. Better than Fehners.
Also a feed mill and agricultural supply.
If you are wanting to see guns, Dury's Gun Shop in SA. One location on the 410 loop, north side of town. Another location on the south side of town

Note Durys does not sell reloading stuff.. Tommy Mc

Houston doesn’t have a major reloading warehouse type store. You aren’t going to find barrel blanks in a rack… if someone has inventory it is at a gunsmith’s shop.

Bass Pro Shop as you head toward Houston from Galveston on I45. It is between Dickinson and League City on feeder of I45.

If your Going to Baileys (Hwy 288 “Nolan Ryan Parkway”) then might as well also drop in 2nd Bass Pro Shop (Hwy 288 / Beltway 8 south).

Carters Country on I10 in Houston. While you are there slide across parking lot to Goode Company BBQ and make certain you also get a piece of their pecan pie. I know…you have had pecan pie before. This one gets shipped around the world and it will change your mind! Or stop in at Kenny & Ziggy’s New York Deli (Galleria area at corner of S. Post OakBlvd @ San Felipe). Their homemade Pastrami Sandwich will feed 2 adults. Their menu is enormous and everything is fantastic!

10Ring isn’t worth the trip. It has a bit more selection than Bass Pro but still small store with basic components. Save the gas and go online.

Collectors Firearms is a gun store worth stopping by with swords, mid-evil armor, cannon, high-end rifles pistols and shotguns, all things modern tactical and NFA, great selection of vintage and modern firearms, as well as large selection of 22lr firearms. They have anything and everything related to firearms, except reloading supplies. I go there when something has peaked my interest that I wanted to see and touch in person. Their pricing is horrendous… call it 20%-30% markup above price you find for same exact item at any other gun store in town. I then go elsewhere to buy it at a reasonable price.

In summary - unfortunately we don’t have a top tier reloading specialty store in Houston. You can find standard powders, primers and projectiles, but more difficult to find high-end components.

I stopped by Bailey's and met the owner. Super friendly guy. They had a lot of different brands of powder there, and I wished could've bought several of them but I wasn't sure if I could take on the plane. I bought several pounds of 7-08 brass.
