I'm currently working up a load for my son's 6.5 PRC. The rifle was built by Keith Kilby at Wyoming Armory; Defiance Classic long action, Hawkins Precision bottom metal & hunter mag, Kreiger #4 8 twist ~ 24" with mini-bastard, , McMIllian stock, SAMMI reamer. There is much info on the web etc about action length, with a short action you are limited in coal, just understand you may be jumping quite a bit. For your own info you should seat a dummy round to touching the lands. This will show you how far you're jumping...
I'm using Whidden dies, Lapua brass, H1000, Berger 140 hybrids, F210M and Garmin chrono for all initial testing. I'm pretty much done and have approximately 175 rds on the barrel. Generallly I would observe that the 6.5 PRC is a little finicky as compared to a 6.5 284 (the easy button...). I started with 97 rnds of virgin brass (3 unfired in the die box). That initial 97 rounds gave me info on velocity and seating depth - and I did not want to pick a load on virgin brass and with less than a 100 rnds on the barrel. The results bore this out.
Also I am using a front rest, rear bag and wind flag...
Initial loads velocities were as follows: 57.3 ~ 2900, 58.2 ~2960 and 59.2 ~3010.
After around 165 rnds 58.2 ~ 3030 and 59.2 ~ 3090-3100.
The increases are due to 3 factors, barrel speeding up, 1x fired brass and a new lot of powder was a little faster (used the old stuff for break-in and threw what was left away...).
Never any signs of pressure. The Hornady book shows 59.0 and 3100 for the 140's.
Seating depth: shot better closer to touch COAL ~ 3.08.
Neck tenstion: like more ~ .003 (290 bushing). My last test will be .004 (289 bushing).
Photo initial testing (have other charge weights 57.3 was ~ 2900)

Bushing test and seating (OG measuring with tool for seating depth)(DCB Dirty cold bore)
The groups are a little smaller with the tighter bushing. The 3146 velocity I consider an anomaly.
I will test once more at 200 with 290 & 289 bushing at OG of 3.381.
