Neck turning question forming 6BRX from 6 Dasher

I’m currently forming 6BRX brass from 6 Dasher brass that was hydro formed from 6BR brass.

I’m turning the brass while it is in the dasher state. The first piece I turned (on the left) was just kissing the shoulder of the piece of brass. When I fired it through the 6BRX a portion of the turned neck became part of the shoulder on the 6BRX case.

The second piece (on the right) I measured the length of the neck on the fired case and turned to that length.

My question, is this the correct amount to be turning off the brass? Or do I want part of the turned neck to go into the shoulder like the first piece?

I like the second method better. You really don't want to be thinning part of the shoulder.
