New H322

Has anyone found any significant differences between the H322 made in the '80s and that which is available today? What adjustments would you make in your loading to compensate for the differences?
I had the perfect H322 load for my custom 6mm-PPC built in the mid-'80s. After reading there was a change in the 322, I'm thinking I should go to N133 and forget the 322~!
Right or wrong?

If you are to the point that you've done all you know to do with H322 and are not satisfied,by all means try something else. Through my years with several 6mmPPC's I've shot N133,H322,AA2015,IMR8208XBR,original 8208,and AA LT-32. I have been and still the happiest with
AA LT-32...by far. I have shot many small groups with all them at one time or another, but AA LT-32 has been the most consistent....it meters more uniformly and seems to burn cooler. I've measured kernel for kernel between N133 and LT-32.....LT-32 is about half the length and about half the diameter of N133.
Good luck and stay safe.

I've shot H322 in my .223 Contender handgun for over40 years. Still getting 3/8" groups. Very satisfied with it. Never been tempted to try anything else.

Never shot it in the 80s. But with any lot change on powder and I just try to start by matching my old velocity.

I had an H322 lot change where I tweaked my Dillon to match the old lot charge weight, but leaving the bulk setting in the powder measure would have actually matched the velocity on the prior lot. I.E. had I just tested the charge setting on the machine, I could have kept on going with the new slightly different weight.

Yes, about $50/lb

For sure Ken! Vintage H322 was made by several different companies. Once the go to powder for the 6mm PPC, it fell out of favor when" T32" (also called 8208, a milsurp power), and then N133 replaced it.

I was told by several older BR competitors that happened, mostly because newer lots of it were "slower" and "dirty burning."

Speaking of powder for the 6 PPC, it remains to be seen if LT32 becomes favored over N133. Some folks think it's the best thing since sliced bread, others think it's crap-o-la. Time will tell.

I was buying H322 GI Surplus which was printed on the label for 3 dollars and some cents per LB. I still have a couple pounds left.
I remember $40 for an 8 pounder, with minimal shipping coasts & no haz mat.

Unless you are really savy with VV133, I would do my best to shoot any other powder of which LT32 would be on the list. I switched from VV133 to Scott 4197 and the groups were the same but the frustration level was all but eliminated. VV133 will drive you crazy with temp instability!! At least it did me. But, I am a casual benchrest shooter at best. 4197 put the fun back into the matches for me personally. Small groups.

I have been shooting LT-32 for a while. It gets me to my upper node, where my bullets like it, using 29g. It is an easy fill with no drop tube. I use a 4" one because it is easier for me to hold onto the funnel I use. My average speed is 3525ish.....65.4g BT.....
