Hall M RBLP railgun barreled action, 26" 1.5" diameter straight 22 PPC short / Waldog barrel, Jewell trigger (Orange County CA - Price drop 6/16/25))

Action: Hall M ("82 M"), right bolt left port, .470 bolt face
Barrel: 1 in 14 twist, 26" length, 1.5" diameter no taper, chambered in 22 PPC short / Waldog
Trigger: Jewell, pull weight so light it will not register on my Wheeler digital gauge
Location: Orange County, CA

This unit weighs over 14 lbs so you can still use it as a lethal weapon if the cartridge misfires. I do not have a benchrest background, bought this because it looked interesting. Was planning on putting it in a stock but am looking to sell it and move on to another project. By my best guess is it was originally in a railgun chassis.

Barrel has a lot of various scratches/scrapes and looks like it had a barrel tuner on it at some point. I did a chamber cast and concluded it is 22 PPC short but can not determine exactly how short (-0.100" or -0.107", perhaps)

Let's talk about the weird part, the action has engravings on the side: "USA MODEL 22-250 SAN MARCOS, CA". Seller inherited it from an uncle and didn't know anything about it, said it was chambered in .22-250. The receiver was unmarked and it could not be transferred in CA without a manufacturer, model, location ETC so they had an FFL "manufacture" it. My FFL transfer paperwork has Manufacturer: USA, Model 22-250, on it and it was transferred without any hick ups. I researched the heck out of it and determined it's a Hall M and it has "82 M" engraved under the bolt handle, consistent with other Hall actions.

Asking $900 OBO. Would much prefer a local sale in Southern California but will ship for the right buyer. Will consider face to face trades at an FFL with a CA resident for R700 footprint actions or interesting pistols. If you have a trusted gunsmith out here, I'm willing to travel some amount for them to inspect it.

I do not see where Hall stamped this action.
This is mentioned in the description:

Interesting, bun. I had thought the original manufacturer was required by Federal Law to mark his/her products and serial number them.
Alan and I chat every now and then. I'll have to ask him next time we visit.

thanks,

ISS

That was my understanding as well, I am just repeating what the seller told me.
Please do ask him about 82 M the next time you talk to him, I would love to know what happened with this one.

PRICE DROP TO $675 SHIPPED OBO - DOES NOT INCLUDE TRIGGER

Trigger has been removed and is being sold elsewhere. I would edit the original post but it wont let me.

Here are some photos of the trigger hanger and trigger hanger cavity:

I once bought a used benchrest stock that was a hall pattern, had an m rbrp in it. The bottom of the bedding said clarance alabama or something like that in it ! Hall for sure

I doubt its a Hall made action, primarily because of the lack of Hall markings. One shooter here in Maine has an action you would swear is a Hall but its a clone.

The markings on the Hall I had were very light. If you didn’t know where and what to look for it could be missed. I could see somebody trying to clean and polish an action and making the factory marking illegible by accident. If you zoom in on this action, it looks like there were some markings below the new marks. I suspect those were the original make and serial number.

Good possibility

i sure wish you hadn't sold the trigger I would have been interested Ive always had good luck tuning these old actions.
I threw it on eBay because I don’t have any trading history here. The auction ends in 3 days if you’re interested, it’s already bid up to $317
