We're underway !

Texas Solo

B.S. High Master
Big news. Central Alabama Gun Club is beginning construction on our new range. We hope to be able to go to 1000yds, but it will at least be 800yds.
The range will have 20 firing points, covered. An elevated platform, probably of dirt, will be constructed to allowing firing any distance from any position.
Shot Marker is the proposed scoring system.
Club matches will be monthly with a few bigger matches planned. Eventually, we hope to host an Alabama State Championship.
Timber clearing negotiations are underway now. This is a very expensive endeavor. About $180K is planned. We hope to have it completed in one year.

CAGC is about 10 miles from Montgomery AL.
Check our website for Club info.
We hope to draw as many shooters as possible given the lack of longer ranges available. So I'd like to know how many of you would consider attending our monthly matches, or at least one of our larger matches?
Thanks for reading.

Is the plan to have etargets at each distance or does the shooting move back from longer range?

F Class & NRA Service Rifle.
There is also talk of some form of PRS.
Also possibly some CMP matches.
Will only F-Class shooters be allowed to shoot the NRA Long and Mid-Range Highpower matches at your club? I know several Alabama and Tennessee Sling shooters who would be likely to attend as long as it's not F-Class only. In Middle/Eastern TN all of the matches are actually run by sling shooters, and both F-Class and Sling shooters participate on the firing line simultaneously, per common practice.

Most ranges don’t schedule matches on the first Saturday of the month for some reason. Maybe a good fill for your range.

These type questions will need to be addressed later.
We will need experienced match directors for each discipline. We have Service Rifle & F Class covered.

Intentions are to accommodate as many disciplines as possible. Much of that goal will depend on having the right people in place.

Just FYI - The only difference between F-Class vs. Sling in these highpower matches is the piece of paper on the target face. With electronic targets, even that does not actually matter.

Yep, just to highlight this I'll quote it. Sling, any/any, F/class all shoot the same course of fire, prone and number of rounds, the only difference is the target. Self-supported shooting uses a 1 moa x-ring and rest supported (bipod or front rest) uses a 1/2 moa X-ring. No difference in prep, time, or anything. Just try to put all the sling shooters on the same targets like if it were target pits, and you'll be good. Make your match bulletin say Highpower long range and it'll cover all the above. I can't say I've ever shot an F/class match that didn't have sling shooters there.
