I have a older Anschutz 1403 22 rimfire. A friend was examine my bolt and notice that the firing pin doesn’t have a spring that slide over the pin. Does it require a spring?? Thanks for any help/info.

Below are the parts relating to the bolt. The image is from the 1975 Anschutz parts list for the 1403.
As can be seen a spring (shown as part #7) is needed.

If this is the spring you are referring to, you need it. Otherwise the firing pin will flop around in the bolt head and not retract when the bolt is cocked.
Look in the bolt head , it may still be there. Sometimes the spring will stick in the bolt head and need tapping out.

Hi tmwinds
The firing pin in your Attachment looks different than the firing pin in my Anschutz 1403. MY Anschutz 1403 much be an earlier model? The firing pin spring I’m referring to is shown in front of part 5 (if that’s a springs?)
Thanks for your help.

Yes, the small spring in front of part # 5 is what I was referring to. The picture I posted is from a model 64 Anschutz but I think the spring is the same.

The 1402 takes the same firing pin spring as a model 64. Midwest Gun Supply has it for $5.

There were 2 different firing pins used in the 64 actions over the years. The picture you posted is the newer firing pin and does require that extra spring.

The older 64 actions such as the Savage/Anschutz 64 match use a hooked firing pin and will be flat in the back. these do not require the extra spring and they lock into the rod. If needed, I can take my bolt apart and show the older firing pin.

The link shows the newer firing pin. this is a rebuild kit.
