Suggested magnification for 300 yd shooting.

One recent purchase that impressed me is the Athlon SPR Heras 15-60X56mm scope. For around $600, they are fantastic in that price range.
Thanks Dgp4, I will look at that, more in my budget. Since I’m just a backyard paper puncher that would o me fine!

Golden Eagle, or a Sightron SIIISS 10-50-60mm. I have two of them on varmint rifles. I also have a March 5-40X56mm.

Thanks, I have variables for hunting purposes, but most of my shooting is precision shooting. I’m 63 yrs old so I resort to backyard paper punching!
Hunting or paper punching, it doesn't make any difference. In the solitary use of paper punching at a fixed distance regularly you don't need a variable power. The distance is never going to change~!
However, if there is a possibility, even remote that at some time you may want to go hunting, the variable will give you the flexibility to shoot at several distances.
I had a beautiful Leupold 12X on a light-weight-sporter in 6mm-PPC which I really liked until I took the rifle hunting. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't adjust it for different shooting distances distances. I now buy nothing but variable power scopes. Although I mostly punch paper at 100 yards, the 6-24 power with a target dot gives me the flexibility to shoot most any distance without having to buy another scope and go through the sighting in before going hunting. My favorite is a B&L Balvar 6-24 which I was able to pick up 2nd hand, and I'm ready for anything. BTW, I'm 84~!

Thanks Colt, yes I understand exactly. I have a fixed 24x Weaver on one of my guns and really love it , but it’s just for paper at known yardage. I have recently purchased another rifle and trying to shoot further. I only have 300 yds at my home but have access to longer yardage. The 10x50 should let me stretch out further with my eyes. I’ve worn glasses since 5 yrs old. And they are not getting any better.
