10/22 Build - Need Suggestions

I Have never heard, a Bad "Word" about,. Shilen, Feddersen, Kidd, Lilja or, Green Mtn, Barrels.
There are, many Ways to Build, a 10-22 from, a Cheapie, small Game Rifle/ plinking rifle, for UNDER, $1,000. to,.. SERIOUS, Competition Target, 10-22's for,.. $2,500.,. PLUS !
Bolt / chamber Headspace "Fit" and a Good Trigger,. ARE,.. a MUST !
Then SEARCH for, the "Good" Ammo that, your Barrel,.. LIKES !
The plus is what you have to watch out for...

Brimstone and CPC are both closed now. There's no one out there working on stock triggers anymore but there are some good options in aftermarket triggers.

I really likeTactical Solutions barrels. Lightweight and good shooters. I actually bought one of their complete rifles and couldn't be happier. It was actually cheaper than putting one together from parts myself.
CPC: when, why?
Brimstone: Didn't they not long ago resume working on factory Ruger 10/22 triggers? I have one that they did. It is excellent. What happened?

Sell what ya have left. Take those funds and order a barreled action from KIDD. This will save you a LOT of money/time/energy/effort/frustration in the long run.

Buy one that someone else has already built and save some money...
As long as the Buyer "Knows",.. What the good 10-22, Parts used, in the build,... ARE !
I've seen some pretty good Deals on Rifles ( with, a great Parts List ) on, "Here" for, sale.
Usually a little, cleaning, adjusting ( swap a part, maybe) , some good ammo "sorting" and,.. Bingo !
It's kind of Funny, but after, building One, the Owner just gets Tired of, their ,22 Rifle and decides to, Sell !
I USE Mine,.. every year

I've got an all Kidd with a factory receiver, 2 stage trigger, Kidd bolt & charge handle, light weight Kidd barrel, Victor Titan stock with rear spike kit, Kidd threaded trigger pins, Over $1400 in it and can't get $1000 out of it...

CPC posted on RFC a couple of weeks ago that they had lost their lease and would be retiring
Brimstone just stopped communicating with their customers a year or so ago. Some never got their money or triggers back.
I have a couple of Brinstone triggers and they are really nice. I hope someone comes around that can start this work again.

I did the same thing that you are doing as far as the light and fun part. I got a full factory 10/22 from a buddy real cheap. Decided to build a lightweight squirrel rifle. Parts are as follows:

-Factory receiver
-Kidd ultralight 16.5” barrel
-Kid single stage trigger
-Kidd guide rod/charging handle (lighter spring used for running suppressed
-Bolt reworked by CPC (right before going out of business)
-Victor Titan stock
-EGW rail
-Meopta Optika5 3-15x44

I planned to have a rifle below 7 lb with how it sits above but didn’t happen. If I remember correctly it’s 7 lb 6 oz. It gets a bit heavier when running my suppressor squirrel hunting. The accuracy is amazing especially for the weight. Shoots eley subsonic HPs in the .3-.5 range at 50 yds with my suppressor on. That’s plenty good for what I want to do. High end match ammo will shoot much better than that every time. After squirrel season the Meopta comes off and I put my sightron s6 5-30x56 on for indoor and outdoor shooting matches we have just for fun. With lapua pistol OSP and Center-x, it will hang with a lot of bolt actions.

That's a shame on both accounts. I got a Brimstone trigger on a 10/22 T I got locally. It's a lot of trigger for the money. I am sure a Kidd trigger is better, but how much better? At some point, the law of diminishing returns comes into play.

I wound up with a Feddersen 17" Heavy Taper/Threaded barrel. It showed up today. I'm still waiting on the chassis. Lord knows when it will show.

Next question...1x or 3x prism dot for an optic. A true LPVO is not really in the budget at the moment.

Again, this is a fun plinker/all'rounder. Also a hog dispatch gun for up close work. This is NOT a target or precision gun. I'll fuss with it in the yard @50 yards for fun but that's about it.
