That already happens when there is a disaster such as a hurricane. For most of the nation it doesn't effect them. Checks aren't any better though. I guess we could go back to a cash or barter system, but I don't have any chickens or pigs to barter with.

Credit cards and Debit cards are electronic checks!!! Not currency!!! You sign a receipt, just like a check, using a credit card!! Or use your personal pin as a digital signature for a bank transaction for your personal bank account!!!

A check is like an "I owe you" transaction which is accepted at banks, as long as you have the "Money" to cover the value of the I Owe You piece of paper called a check!!!
