Aero Solis Obsidian Receiver?

Let me preface this post with I’m sort of on a budget with this build.

I’m thinking about building either a 300 Win Mag or a 6.5 CM for paper punching.

My question for you gentlemen is the Aero Precision receiver a good platform to start?

Thanks in advance for your input and your knowledge.

I would put a Stiller Predator or Bighorn or Defiance Classic ahead of that one.

I’ve had 3. Still have 1. When you can get them on sale for $6-700 they’re worth it. At a grand there are too many others that are better (more refined).

The one I have is for f-class and it has held up fine as long as a good barrel and trigger are attached to it

Im using a solus for my F-TR rifle shooting 308 and it has been everything I needed and more. I have had issues when i used ot with an AICS magazine feeding but that can be adjusted with magazine tuning. The action is cut for an AI/AW but i believe they feed better from an AICS magazine box than the AW magazine.

I really like the ease of firing pin removal/takedown and the trigger hanger is made in a fashion that is easy to remove but locks up tight.

The addition of the fluted bolt is something i wish i had but mine if from the first production run.

No matter how good they may or may not be there are tons of dissatisfied customers this past year that have ordered from Aero and are not getting product. They aren't getting any comms either. Some wait for months until they receive their parts. Many have had their card merchant reverse charges because they can't get ahold of them to cancel. Buyer beware!!!!

NSS had them for $750

Aero had them on a super sale black Friday or thereabouts. Delivered to my ffl for less than $625. That was the FDE .308 bolt face version

Just fit a barrel up to my first solus action. I had read online where it was clunky and heavy and not real smooth. My thoughts are the exact opposite of that. The action is definitely heavier than most but it feels good. Bolt operation is butter smooth and the ergonomics of it really work well for me. My only complaint is that you have to use an M5 style bottom metal. In this particular chambering (6GT) there is a bit of a feeding issue I need to work out, but overall I really like the action.

I have one for a 6 gt build, nothing wrong with it. Been thinking of getting another one but $750 for the solus vs $900 for an origin, might go with the origin

I have two that I use for f open 1K matches and they are solid in my opinion. I have about 3k rounds on one and about 5k rounds on the other and I can't complain one bit. Granted I haven't had any higher end actions than the aero I'm not sure I would spend the money because they do everything I need. Plus, the interchangeable bolt head is a big plus. When they go back on sale for $600 again, I'll get another one or two.
