Fire crackling in a match barrel at 700 rounds

is it possible to have fire crackling in a BR barrel at only 700 rounds. 6NBR 105 Bergers HI Varget ??
What say ye??
I'd be surprised if you didn't have some, I'm not talking about the picture in one of the post above but just past the FB, I've got guns with almost 3000 rounds (30BR) with very little and guns with 1300 with quite a bit. Depends on load and cleaning, cleaning will not prevent fire cracking that I know of.

This debate will go on endlessly about bore conditions, color of patches, bore scope images, the "best" way to clean a rifle bore. Doubt it? Just look on the internet at the claims / counter claims of the "best" method / solvents, bronze brush or not, etc. In my opinion and experience, the best way to assess a rifle's serviceability and cleaning method is shots on target. I believe this because different shooting disciplines have different accuracy requirements and different rates of fire.

Fire cracking is inevitable if you put enough rounds down a barrel. I had rifles with visible fire cracking (checked by smith) yet shot well enough for my purposes, varmint grade accuracy.

What I see at the range is a mostly a lot of sustained fire, even with bolt rifles, significantly heating the barrel. Some shooting disciplines may require this kind of fire sequence, but the result is going to be a shorter barrel life. While at some point, all barrels are a consumable, disciplines or shooting styles that involve continual sustained fire sequences, especially with high intensity cartridges, will result in a significantly lower shelf life for those barrels. That's the cost of the discipline or your shooting style.

I saw some negative comments about Varget. I've use it for many years in numerous cartridges without the dire consequences claimed. Maybe this is because I do not shoot sustained fire in my rifles and / or I clean them on a regular basis and / or I am not using harsh / aggressive cleaning methods to achieve some image in a bore scope.

The bottom line of what I am trying to say is that taking into account the requirements of your shooting discipline, the results on target will tell you the effectiveness of your cleaning methods and serviceability of your barrel. I think it's as simple as that. Stop looking inside the barrel and go to the range to evaluate the performance in your rifle / cleaning system.

I see light fire cracking in my 6BRX’s and 6.5x47 at 300-400 rounds. It’s life with competition rifles that get shot hard to stay in a wind condition. Keep it clean and don’t worry about it until either the accuracy goes away or the fouling is more than you want to deal with.
