Rebuild Project Finished

I spent this weekend putting this together

Action - Mauser 98 Bruno
Stock -Parker Hale
Barrel - Krieger heavy 1:8 twist
I chambered it in 6.5-284 using a custom reamer with a .294 neck
I added a side safety Timney trigger adjusted to a clean 1lbs
I topped it off with a 6-24x50 Arken Scope
Refinished the old stock/

I wish I would have bought some of those Parker Hale Stocks like that in the 90's when Sarco and Numrich had them, I got a few of the cadet stocks later on, But those stocks like you have sold out quick.

Yup, and don't buy a Parker-Hale 1200.
At least, every one I've worked on was quite crooked.
Not sure how common those are south of the border, but we have lots of them up here.
The Parker Hale 1200 action was built in Spain, I have a couple of them. Sometimes I wonder if they were actually made in Serbia as the have a Z prefix on the serial number. There is a small "Spain" stamp on the rear tang.
My Herter's J-9 action serial number has a Z prefix and says made in Yugoslavia.

Interesting. Not sure about all that I've worked on, but the most recent doesn't have a Z prefix, and certainly no "Spain" marking.

Whoa, that is information that hurt my brain. I had always "heard" the Parker Hale 1200 were very accurate, so much so they based the M82 sniper rifle on them? I have NO HANDS ON so it was just what I had read. I like to be in the know, so when you say the 1200s are crooked what do you mean? The barrel, stock, action? Thanks for educating me!

Zavasta possibly

Yeah that's always what I have suspected. That they had imported those from what was at the time Zastava in Yugoslavia and stamped Spain on them and called them Santa Barbara actions.
I built my 6.5x55AI on one and it's very accurate.
